Yes of course. Life and death are very intimate to human beings. Communicating something like this makes people come closer together and give support to each other. The person dying would feel more at peace while the survivors would be able to heal from the loss more quickly.

Right, I've thought! My answer is no. why would I tell anyone? It would only cause distress, it would gain me a lot of pity, I wouldn't want any of that thank you very much, I would be feeling sorry enough for myself without that!
I would just try to put my affairs in order and some how arrange to leave a message or messages to people to be read after I had 'snuffed it'! then just hope to go quitetly without causing distress to anyone.

I would tell people i really cared about but only if they understood that i didnt want to be treated any differently as i normally was. I'd want to live as normal as possible before i died and not get "special treatment" or "extra attention" just because i was dying. I hope your not asking this question 'cos you are dying.. if you are, you should do what you think is right for you and everyone you know.
