Is there a such things as developmental growing pains?

My doc told me I hade that but I dont think so. Have not grown been months.

Both of my boys would have leg pains when they had growth spurts.

Yep, my son experienced them periodically when he was having a growth "spurt". When the long bones (legs and arms) get into growth mode, there can be discomfort. He only mentioned them when he was in his middle single digit years - from 3 or so on to 7.

There is no physiological rationale for growing pains.. The rapid growth period is in the teens.. Is when the long bones do their last spurt and grow the most..Any diagnosis of this condition will only indicate the doctor does not have an answer. There has to be some logic to such a finding.. As, toxicity by some minor infective process.. pain or discomfort has to start from somewhere and growing is not an acceptable reason. Rheumatic fever is one which causes considerable discomfort in the lower extremities. Are many logical answers for this condition but growing pains are pretty far out of the mix.

Yes, apparently there is. My daughter had pain in her thigh bone when she was about 14. Doc. explained it would pass. You don't actually have to be able to measure a growth difference to have growing pains, the growth can be so slight in one area to cause pain in the bone next to it, till that bone grows and everything minutely shifts about and settles.

Yes. Even if you do not notice a size change, the inside, muscles are changing as you grow.
