Oh does it really. I better go and drink some now.
I put on a lot of weight over the holidays.
Christmas that is. hehehe

it doesn't

i am not sure, but i think because your body has to work harder to keep itself warm when their is cold water in you.

Because your body must work to warm the water to body temperature.

It do?

Because your body has to work harder to stay warm.

Because you body has to work harder to warm up the water in your digestive system. It only burns more calories though it doesn't speed up your metabolism.

It doesn't. If it did, everyone would have super fast metabolisms.

In response to cooltoque's answer, hot or cold, water doesn't have any calories to burn with.

In response to many of the answers here regarding "heating up your body", the digestive system doesn't provide insulatory heat to keep the body warm. Please check your facts. The circulatory system is responsible for keeping the body warm.

Because the body works hard and burns some calories in order to bring the cold water to normal body temperature

Inside is hot . Stomach area. When you drink cold water it starts working. To correct the temperature inside. So metabolism speeds up.

your body has to keep it's core temp at 98degrees. when you add in the cold water it lowers that and your body has to turn up the energy level to raise the temp basck to where it should be.

Because your body expends extra calories to warm it up to the bodies temperature.

Your body has to use energy to heat the water to regular internal body temp. But compared to say, exercising, the amount of energy used to warm up cold water is almost nothing (maybe a couple calories a day for all the water you drink).

because it take calories to heat it up in your stomach and that also heats up your body and all of this eats up fat
Good Luck
