any medicine 4 this?

I've always heard that cranberry juice is good for urinary tract infections, and in recent years I've seen reports that studies seem to confirm this. My suggestion is to find out (from a doctor's test) just what bug is causing the infection. Your doctor should then prescribe the (holistic or not, get that cleared up!) appropriate medicine. Don't put it off too long. You don't want to damage your insides. Try cranberry juice first, if you like, but look for improvement within the week or get yourself to the doc. I'd much rather bend away from herbal remedies and take penicillin than let my urinary tract stay infected!

Oregon Grape tincture helps to prevent the body from getting bacterial infections. It works the same way as taking concentrated amounts of cranberry extract. But if you have one already It will be hard to get rid. There are some doctors or herbalists that would know for sure. Some doctors (few) are starting to recommend herbs.

Self-Care Remedies
Use a home test, available in drugstores, to help you find out if you have a UTI.

Drink a big glass of water once an hour or alternate with cranberry juice. Purchase the unsweetened form, then add a little honey or apple juice to reduce its tartness. Don’t buy cranberry "drinks," which are heavily sugared. All this fluid increases the flow of urine, which then washes harmful bacteria out of your system.

Relieve pain with over-the-counter painkillers and a heating pad or hot water bottle.

Don't "hold" it when you have to urinate.

Keep the genital and anal areas clean. Wash before and after intercourse; always wipe from front to back after defecation.

Keep the genital and anal areas dry. Wear cotton underwear, which allows air to circulate; remove damp or wet clothing promptly after exercising or swimming.

Swab the genital area with cool goldenseal or echinacea tea. These pleasant washes may help to prevent recurrences in women who are prone to bladder infections.

Avoid feminine hygiene sprays and scented douches, which may irritate the urinary tract.

Urinate soon after intercourse.

Consider switching birth control methods. Spermicides containing nonoxynol-9 change the balance of bacteria in the vagina, allowing more dangerous ones to proliferate.

Urinary track infection is not related to human papilloma virus, but human papillomavirus and these infections can occur simultaneously. Treatment measures recommended are antibiotics and various alternative medicine cures. They also register blood in the urine. However, in most cases, patients notice such signs as persistent need to urinate and uncomfortable feeling during urination. Sometimes, the disease is masked. Urinary track infection is not related to human papilloma virus, but human papillomavirus and these infections can occur simultaneously.

On first stages of the disease, homeopathic methods can be used, such as Apis mellifica, Aconitum Apellus, Belladonna, Berberis vulgaris, Cantharis and others. Some remedies for urinary tract infection will also have a positive effect on the human papilloma virus and infections causing vaginal discharge.

Craneberry juice is more of a "myth" as far as urinary tract infection is concerned. Modern medicine and research has found some evidence that about 2-3 litre of craneberry juice a day helps relieve some symptoms of UTI, but thats applicable in case of any high volume liquid intake...

Cranberry is definetly a good way to go. The studies have shown that Cranberry juice or tablets remove the outer layer of many pathogens and stop them from attaching to the bladder wall so that they can be washed out.
However to do this you need to drink about 8 glasses of Cranberry juice per day. Or you need to get tablets that are equivalent to 1500mg dried cranberries or more per day and take about 3-5 of them each day.
Even when doing this it is not the best way to treat a UTI. UTI's can very quickly progress up the urinary tract and cause kidney problems so they should be treated with antibiotics to prevent serious complications. Once this has been done Cranberry juice can be used to prevent recurrences. This is where the studies have shown the greatest efficacy with cranberry juice.
The other thing that you need to do is to drink lots of water about 7+ glasses per day. Often people think they have a UTI due to burning on urination however in many cases it is just dehydration that is causing the urine to become concentrated leading to buring pain on urination. Dehydration can also lead to UTI's if it is ongoing.
In summary Cranberry has shown the most consistent evidence for efficacy, and is often used in nursing homes and other orthodox medical establishments, to prevent UTI's. But it is best as prevention not cure. To prevent long term complications antibiotics are the best way to go and then increase your consumption of water and use cranberry (preferably tablets) to prevent recurrences.

Are there any benifits to taking pure Niacin over the "Niacin Flush" or Niacinimide formulas?

I have had many UTIs for over 6 years. Doctors always just give me antibiotics, but taking too many can make the bacteria resistant to them. So i started researching how to prevent them.

UTIs are usually caused by e-coli traveling from the anus to the vagina, colonizing the vagina then passing from the vagina to the urethra during sex. When you take antibiotics, they kill the Lactobacillus in the vagina (the good bacteria that kill off the bad e-coli bacteria).

Studies have shown that women who douche with the good bacteria have 80% fewer UTIs. But you have to get rid of the bad bacteria first. This can be done with a hydrogen peroxide douche.

"When lactobacillus in the colon or vaginal tract have been overrun with harmful viruses, yeast, or bacteria, an effective douche or enema solution can be made using 3 tablespoons of 3% H202 in 1 quart of distilled water (boil water for 15 mins). Keep in mind, however, that a good bacterial flora must always be re-established in theses areas to achieve lasting results." http://curezone.com/art/read.asp?id=73&d...

I am not a doctor and I have not yet done this enough to figure out if it works, but it make sense according to the studies I have read.

"recurrence rate of UTI can be significantly reduced using one or two (Lactobacillus) capsules vaginally per week for one year" http://pmj.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/79/9...

You have to make sure the lactobacillus supplement has the right strains. These are most beneficial: acidophilus, bulgaricus, brevis, salivarius, casei, gasseri, rhamnosus, plantarum, and delbruekii.

First, douche with hydrogen peroxide (see vaginal wash): http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/vagi...

Then douche with natural yogurt with lactobacillus powder mixed in: http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=...

Anyone ever hear that apple cider vinegar is devout for cholestreol?

Don't take cranberry juice for a urinary tract infection. It's a good preventative but once you get an infection it does no good.
Take colloidal silver. I've used it for years for urinary tract and other kinds of infections. Make it yourself at home for pennies.
Do a search on your favorite search engine and you will find out a lot about it, also how to make.
