Can collagen supplements be digested, or do they pass thru like glucosamine, and have no real health benefit.?

Question:
I understand that science says glucosamine cannot be digested as it cannot pass through the stomach walls in order to get into the bloodstream. So it cannot possibly aid joint pain - other than in the mind. Does this also mean that the same applies to collagen tablets?

Answer:
My mother and I used to take Calorad, a multi-level marketing supplement, and that collagen supplement really worked for us. I lost weight, my joints felt better and Mom really saw the benefits! Her skin and hair started looking better, her joints felt better and she was even able to sleep better than she had in years!

I'm having joint trouble again but Calorad is just too expensive to take long-term so I'm on a liquid collagen product from my local health food store. I'm also taking a new product for joints that my naturopathic doctor recommended and that seems to be working.
Afraid so, most 'supplements' can't be absorbed in the human body, they're just a waste of time.
